Somersetshire Coal Canal

The North Somerset Coal Canal ran through Combe Hay from the early 1800’s until it was abandoned in 1898.
The canal is long gone but we do have a flight of 22 locks in the valley.
This is a view up the three locks that had been cleared for the first time in a 100 years by the local coal canal group.
