I recently got two pen and wash/watercolours (I am not an expert) of Looe dated 1970, from a boot fair. Signed Poggio, they are gorgeous and really capture the waterside atmosphere. Cost me £3 for the two - not bad for two signed originals that I really like. It is interesting to see from your blog that he is a local artist. With work of this quality I can't understand why this artist is not better known.
I have some Poggio's too. When we were in Looe in the sixties my parents had a couple of sketches done by Poggio and my father also bought two small oil paintings. In addition he commissioned two pen and ink sketches of fishermen which are lovely. I still have all four pictures. If you know anything about Poggio do let me know.

Dear Fred poggio... With his blue eyes, blue vespa and cigarette hanging from the mouth. Was from Gibraltar or Malta. His widow died recently. He was part of our annual looe holiday. Gosh I feel nostalgic.
