Combe Hay Post Office Closed
With all the Post Office closures, its time to remember our Post Office which sadly closed in 1983, its now about twice the size and a private house, this view is now the end of the kitchen for my next door neighbours.
We had
Towards the end she ran the Post Office from her living room, you went in and sat by the fire while she sold you stamps from her arm chair.
Her Post Office was robbed a number of times, I remember a Post office official telling me they were in a quandary, if they left her open she was an easy target for robbers and if they took the post office away they would be attacked as heartless, if only the Post Office were so caring today!

Eddie Cochran
On Saturday, April 16, 1960, at about 11:50 pm, 21-year-old Rock Star Eddie Cochran was a traffic accident while travelling through Chippenham, he died next day in St Martins Hospital Bath.
When I was waiting for Wendy to see the dietician at St Martins Hospital today, I thought I would wander over to the Eddie Cochran memorial in the grounds.
To my surprise it had been moved from its original site a new spot behind the chapel.
It makes little difference as the old memorial site was just as far from the ward he died in.
In our Bath Hospital Radio Days we often visited the late Bea Beadle, Bea lived most of her life between two wards at St Martins Hospital.
She was a victim of polio and never left her bed, but vividly remembered the night Eddie Cochran was brought into the ward next to her bed.

Transferring old cine film to DVD or Video
Old Friend Brian Seers has closed his shop Avon Audio Visual in Lower Borough Walls and has moved it to 3a
It’s one of those shops the stocks all the little thing that large photographic dealers don’t bother with.
They also specialise in transferring all your old cine film to DVD or Video, I think they are the only local company to do it on the premises reducing the risk of your precious cine films being lost in transit.
The Hire department has a large range of equipment ranging from flip charts to 16mm sound projectors and they buy and sell DVDs and computer games.
