Someone’s collection of holiday slides in the Trowbridge Dorothy House Shop.
Unlikely to happen again thanks to Flickr.

Olympic torch is at the Bath

I though the Olympic torch is at the Bath University early, but it’s just the new car charging points.

Pooh sticks

Andy and I went to check the state of our garden water feature tonight.
And decided to play Pooh sticks off the bridge.
There they go, one straight one and a bent one.
Looks like the bent one won, I'm not going to say which was mine as two men with a total age around 110 shouldn't be playing Pooh Sticks.

The Churchill Bridge

From this view its easy to see why the closure of the Churchill bridge for maintenance is going to cause problems, with the Pulteney Bridge closed as well it only leaves two easy route to the town centre.
The original Old Bridge went straight across the Avon from the bottom of Southgate and under the rail line (there was only one tunnel under the rail line then).

This Picture of Wendy was taken while the Churchill Bridge over the river Avon was being built to replace the Old Bridge in 1966.
The bridge in the picture is one of the two Bailey Bridges that carried the traffic while the bridge was built.
Notice the old tea stall on the right, Tuckers Feed Store on the left and Churchill House in the centre now all demolished.

Crash in Westgate Street

About 50 years ago I was walking down Westgate Street (It was one way in the other direction then) and heard a tearing sound, looking up a lorry had hit a sun-blind and people were running to get away.
This was my snap, now bear in mind there was no auto exposure, focus or motor wind and I always left winding on to just before I clicked the shutter to save the shutter springs.
I think I was very lucky to catch the moment.

The New Steps

The builders have finished the base of the new terrace steps, looks like the bungalow has more stairs than the average house.
