The Churchill Bridge

From this view its easy to see why the closure of the Churchill bridge for maintenance is going to cause problems, with the Pulteney Bridge closed as well it only leaves two easy route to the town centre.
The original Old Bridge went straight across the Avon from the bottom of Southgate and under the rail line (there was only one tunnel under the rail line then).

This Picture of Wendy was taken while the Churchill Bridge over the river Avon was being built to replace the Old Bridge in 1966.
The bridge in the picture is one of the two Bailey Bridges that carried the traffic while the bridge was built.
Notice the old tea stall on the right, Tuckers Feed Store on the left and Churchill House in the centre now all demolished.

Great photos as always. The old bridge looks so much nicer. I fear that this whole area is a bit over-modernised now.
