About 65 years ago we lived over our newsagents
at 10 Abbey Churchyard, One of our customers was Joe Fowden from Kingston Parade,
who was from an old family of showmen working around fairs.
One day he brought a very large camera to take my picture in
the Churchyard and though I don’t remember all the details of how he took the
picture, then used part of the camera as a changing bag and produced a damp print
within a few minutes.
The print is very faded now and I wonder if that started my
lifelong interest in photography.
