Cold War

  

With the talk of the new cold war I thought I would look back to a picture from the early 60's in those days the country was preparing for a nuclear attack with an updated dads army.

Civil Defence consisted of WRVS emergency feeding units, Rescue units  to recover people from  damaged buildings, scientific advisors to plot the radiation with the Royal Observer corps .

My role in this was a radio operator (valve powered radio that took two people to carry and was powered by 3x 12 volt car batteries in a large wooden box) with a recognisance unit that went out to measure the radiation.  (Gun fodder)

Sir Tony Robinson

I've photographed Sir Tony Robinson 3 times over the last 20 years and he's always been helpful, in fact he once signed a turnip for my daughters. 
We tried drying it and varnishing it but it died in the end.

Horse Dentist

Biscuit had a visit from Wayne Abbott the horse dentist today, no filling of filing. 
But she was very happy to get back in her field.

The Dogs

 

Wendy spent the afternoon photographing the dogs

 Munro helps with the washing.

 They're very happy to share a bone.

 And have a who has the widest mouth contest

 But they really just enjoy the freedom of the garden.

Public Service Strike

Soon after we married in the early 70s we were living in the flat over our shop in Abbey Churchyard.

We had a public services strike and everybody had to drive the family rubbish up Wellsway, where we chucked the rubbish over the wall on to land that now houses Entry Hill golf course 

It must have been difficult for people without cars, imagine taking you rubbish on the bus.

This is me with out little red mini disposing of the family rubbish, didn't need to register with the council computer then, because they only had one and that was writing rent rebate letters and ran on punch tape.

Bath Mini World

I've been making Mini Worlds since 2006 using an SLR with tripod and spending about 15 minutes with a £700 copy of Photoshop.

I was surprised to find my £250 unlocked Google Nexus 4 phone has the effect built in and does it in seconds here's a sample taken yesterday at Alexandra Park.

Come on Mr Apple the rest are catching up, time to start innovating again!

New dress for Lottie

Nicky took Lottie to have her nails done professionally for the first time, looks like Lottie conned a new dress as well.

Then and Now.

Just found  my first mobile phone from 1987 a Motorola 8800x compared with my Google Nexus 4, looks about the same size till you turn it sideways and find the battery was 2ozs heavier than the whole Nexus.

It had a ten number memory and very short battery life, everything was on contract so when it was updated they let me keep it.

Fox Talbot's Birthday
