Conker moving

Much to our surprise a conker planted by
the children grew into a tree, unfortunately its
now in the way of the new building work.
Nicky and Andy prepare to dig it up
with help from Tabitha and Lottie.
Off goes the tree.
Andy helps Tabitha check the hole.
This looks a nice spot

How far away is safe in from a nuclear incident like Japan.

Well with a twelve and a half mile exclusion area this lady would be safe as she was photographed at Bletchley Park which is over a 100 miles from Sizewell Power Station and she was probably more worried about Pollen.
Though a tsunami and earthquake in the Severn Estuary are extremely unlikely a twelve and a half mile exclusion area from Oldbury Power Station would reach to Easton Way at the bottom of the M32.

Union Passage, Wests Grill and the Cadena Cafe.

My family had a newsagents and pattern shop on the far side of  the Caters block in the 60's.
It was demolished together with Wests Grill, Wessex Library and Smith and Clarks outfitters, the Cadena cafe has survived as an amusement arcade.
As a child I was always fascinated by the Trout swimming in the window of Wests Grill and was told you could chose one and they would cook it.
Though I was taken there several times I never had the fish.
Further down Mr Leteurs drug shop was famous for the product on the sign, and passing school boys shouted out the name, such was the level of child crime in those days.

Some picture of the demolition of Holloway.

Holloway originally ran from The Old Bridge and Claverton street straight up to the Bear Flat.
Here are some of my pictures of the demolition of the area to build Carlton Gardens.
