Wendy and I went to the Meat loaf concert at Ashton Gate last night.
We’re both Meat loaf fans, Wendy wore her Bat out of Hell jacket and in the past we have travelled to
This concert was appalling, the sound was dreadful and if you hadn’t memorised the words of most of his songs you wouldn’t have known what he was singing.
He came on-stage about 8.40 and we walked out at 9.30.
Ashton Gate may be all right for a football team playing in a league that’s named after a fizzy drink that rots children teeth, but it’s a poor concert venue.
No wonder Bristol Rovers football team wants to build its own stadium.

Fire Rescue Boat
In 2001 the Avon Fire Brigade Bristol rescue boat came to practise on Pulteney Weir.
Unfortunately they misjudged the power of the weir.
Janet who was the owner of the gift shop on the bridge realised the problem and called the emergency service.
When she was assured that they were only practicing, she replied I’ve seen them practicing, their not practicing their drowning!
My picture shows them waiting for the

Prior Park College fire 1984
I was on my day off in and was at my insurance agents on the Lower
When I called the office I was told
Knowing the famous view was looking up from the grounds but the firefighters were on the opposite side I decided to take a look for a different view.
In the days before the National trust took over the only way into the grounds was through someone’s garden.
When I knocked on the door for permission to go through I was greeted by a woman who asked why I wanted to get in.
I explained and she said her husband was the school caretaker and he’s on day off and at the barbers.
She dashed off to call her Husband and I wandered into the grounds and took this picture.

Banksy
I was driving through Bath when I spotted this graffiti on a derelict garage, It’s by Banksy I thought .
But on closer inspection, it’s good; it’s very good but not a Banksy.

Independence Day at Bath
One of my old pictures from The American Museum at
Once again the Crown Forces of 1776 joined by the Soldiers of George III will give a glimpse into the life of British soldiers during the American revolutionary War.
Their humorous demonstration will not only give insights into an infantryman's equipment and training but also how men were recruited into the ranks - either willingly or unwillingly.
Terrace Lawn 1.30 and 3.00 pm Entry by admission to grounds. Drill displays at 1.30 and 3.00 Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July.

Reject
In this digital age press photography has changed, in the old days we marked up the contacts for printing and the negatives were filed.
Now we come back from a job and look at the pictures, archive maybe ten per cent and delete the rest.
Here’s an unfiled picture from yesterday’s 2.15 race at
And as I took this picture at the start of the race unfortunately Only in Jest was the last across the line in a four-horse race.

Lotus Europa Twin-Cam
Believe it of not this was our Family runabout a couple of years after we married in 1970.
The Lotus Europa Twin-Cam construction kit cost a mere £1600 before purchase tax was replaced by VAT in 1973.
Insurance was group 7 and that was only £70 a year fully comprehensive.
We kept it till Wendy was too pregnant to fit in and sold it for £1200 in 1975.

sweaty Betty
At 63 I live in my little old man bubble, so when I spotted this sign I thought it was a joke!
Because we know men sweat and women just perspire gently.
But my daughter assures me they do exist; in fact they even have a sweaty club.

Christian Moullec and his grey cranes
Although I spent a couple of days at the Royal Bath and West show I missed Christian Moullec flying with his grey cranes because of the bad weather.
So Son-in-Law Andy Higby was dispatched with our little Fuji E900 camera to do the honours.
Bloody good aren’t they.
